China Communications Construction interview questions

The interview was quite short and didn't feel like a standard interview. They barely asked about my qualifications, background or how I could contribute to this job. It wasn't a technical interview and felt like they just wanted to hire a local to do the miscellaneous job rather than hire someone competent or had potential to be groomed. They were more concerned about things like whether I was willing to work overtime, whether I could speak and write in Mandarin, etc.

The interview process was quite challenging and lasted 47 minutes. I was required to speak in Mandarin, even though I only have basic proficiency, which made it difficult to communicate effectively. The questions were quite complex, and at times, it felt like the expectations were higher than what was initially communicated. Additionally, there were some engineers from China present, which made the language requirement even more demanding. There was little flexibility or support regarding this, making the experience feel more like a test of language skills rather than a fair evaluation of my technical abilities.
