Sourced from Recruiting firm who was very familiar with the role and requirements, the organization, and the executive leadership. Had a virtual interview with current CMO. Second interview was a virtual interview with the CEO - that's where things went from great to disaster. The current CEO Gerald, was late to the interview, showed zero interest in the discussion for the first 5 minutes (distracted by emails?), proceeded to talk about his daughter who happened to be an adjunct professor at my alta mater, then cut the conversation short a few minutes after. After reflecting on this interview, it is obvious he had no interest in talking to me. According to other CMOs in our industry, he treated a previous applicant similarly just 6 months prior to my application. To consider relocation across country to work for this leader would be a disaster to anyone and their family. I do have hopes in that Gerald has hired an industry veteran who is slated for his replacement (sooner than later, I hope). But until that transition of power happens, steer clear!
