Two Telephonic rounds - coding exercises. Average experience.
Called for onsite interview I think for Hive/CDH team. The onsite interview experience went like this-
1. Was allocated a conference room for all day I was there (about 5-6 hours)
2. First interview was by dev lead. He was remote so the interview was on skype. Was asked to write a program related to search/replace algorithm. Everything was fine, I might have messed up wild card characters a little but logic was not bad IMO. Interviewer was fine.
3. Second interview was by a QA in east coast. This one was really unprofessional and focussed mostly on whether I was contracting with a specific company in my resume or FTE and so on. Waste of time.
4. Third interview by QA, again remote. But interviewer was professional and logical.
5. Forth interview was local senior QA, she was professional and mostly asked related questions.
6. I am missing one interview as I dont remember details. But it was fine.
That concluded the interviews. After a week or so when I asked for update, the recruiter responded to me that first interviewer, who was dev lead on hive did not approve me. Rest of the feedback was positive. It was strange, because if you have to rely on one person's feedback to choose hire/no-hire then why bother with so many interviewers. Especially when the position in Sr SDET and you solely reject candidate based on dev leads assessment!
