I interviewed at Cogo Labs (Boston, MA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Phone screen than face to face that took around four hours. It was time well spent and got to meet with lots of people. Their office is nice and asked a lot of behavioral questions.

      Analyst Interview

      Dec 28, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Cambridge, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cogo Labs (Cambridge, MA) in Nov 2018

      Interview

The interview process was unnecessarily extensive. It is a 30 minute phone screen with a recruiter, 1 hour in person interview, then 3 1 hour interview sessions with 2 analysts. A lot of the analysts were inexperienced interviewers, and honestly was a waste of my time. Not one person asked what I did, each immediately started with a serious of questions which appeared they were reading off from a worksheet (I had analysts also ask me the same questions, phrased the same exact way). Each round was pretty much the same, and could of been done in just one 1 hour interview. Each had a brainteaser type problem, which weren't bad. There was no coding or analytical exercises, which was a disappointment. Brainteasers aren't really a great indication of what type of analyst you would be. I also was under the impression this was more "data science", than analytics, as I am a data scientist now, but unfortunately no. Seems that they run basic analytics and there is no data science (or at least not that I heard about) and that many analysts and managers have no experience with advanced statistics or modeling at all. If you are a recent graduate, I highly encourage you applying for this role. They seem to hire straight out of college and seems like most people are able to move quickly. If you have an industry experience at all I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. They don't seem to like to hire out, I didn't meet one person who didn't start there entry level besides the VPs. Seems like they aren't really looking for fresh analytical eyes, just looking to mold and train up. Everyone seemed nice and like there was a bunch of perks.

      Analyst Interview

      Jul 14, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Cambridge, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Cogo Labs (Cambridge, MA) in Mar 2017

      Interview

I met a Senior analyst who worked at this company who happened to be an alumni of my University. He called me to do a preliminary personality screen, then recommended that a recruiter reach out to me. That recruiter also conducted a personality/stress interview over the phone. About 2 weeks later, I was asked to do an on-site stress interview in which I was interviewed by two analysts regarding my experience and problem solving abilities. The "brain-teaser" question that they asked me was largely based on discrete math, and I had some trouble answering their question with out help. I was never contacted after the interview.
