      Restaurant Manager Interview

      Aug 1, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cook Out in Jul 2015

      Interview

I applied through Indeed.com, and 7 days later I received an email requesting for me to call them to set up an interview time. I went to the first interview and spoke with the district manager. He just asked simple interview questions (For example, why do you want to work for Cook out?). It was a total of 8 minutes on the interview. Then, he stated that if they decided to move with me that he will follow up with me to do a background check and set up a second interview. 2 days later he gave me a call back to set up the second interview. Little slime ball forgot to mention that I wouldn't be reimbursed for the background check that I paid out of pocket. The ad on for the position is miss leading. It states that store managers will be making low 40s. However, in the second interview he stated that I would be working no less then 52 hours and that my salary would be 1,200.00 every 2 weeks after 3 months of training my pay would increase to 1,350.00. That is no where near the low 40s that they advertised. I also think that it is extremely unethical that they make future candidates pay for their own background check. Don't waste your time with this place!!

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Cook Out (Atlanta, GA) in Jul 2024

      Interview

The interview process is more of a presentation. They don't tell you that you will sit in a room with a group of people and watch a power point describing the position. After that, you will have a brief interview with the presenter. I would get there early because I noticed he interviewed people in the order they arrived. The pay is extremely misleading. 17/hr which equates to around 52k per year after overtime. Then it progresses to a flex manager or night manager, all closing shifts. which is slightly higher, and then possibly a GM, but that base pay is not close to what is advertised. I wouldn't waste my time going unless you're comfortable with that pay range for at least a few months. But if you're willing to put in the work, you could possibly make bonuses and get a decent pay. They also do everything with paper, and you fax your orders, etc, saying they don't want you in the office, in my opinion. Is very inefficient and doesn't save time. And no direct deposit as of yet.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Are you comfortable starting back from the bottom. How do you feel about working late nights. They close at 3am, fyi. Some later

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Cook Out (Jacksonville, NC) in Mar 2018

      Interview

All managers start out as a co manager (12/hr minimum of 52 hr work week) Interviewer was an hour and a half late, was called the day of my interview to rechedule for a later time. Great opportunity for a young person who has never made more than minimum wage before. If you have already been in the workforce, look elsewhere
