Phone screen, followed up by a call and subsequent in-person with a decision maker and finally a remote panel interview. Up to this point, the process was comfortable and welcoming. I especially appreciated being able to meet in face to face—very uncommon for a field position.
The panel interview however, was a jarring shift of tone with the company. The two employees couldn't have looked more jaded or sounded more bothered by the process if they tried. I was given a rushed rundown of the work involved, which had already been well covered by that point, then the interviewers quickly ran down their list of questions and avoided conversation. My Covaris-specific questions were replied to with canned responses.
The boiler plate "we went with a different candidate" email from a donotreply address three weeks later was especially cold and impersonal given the amount of time and effort involved. Covaris' competition will at least acknowledge your humanity and give you the professional courtesy of a quick call to share that information.
