I was invited in for an interview which turned into an immediate trial shift during a very busy period. From the start, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming and there was little explanation of what was expected.
I was placed on drinks with minimal guidance. Although the job advert did not mention latte art as a requirement, I was criticised for my drinks while orders were piling up and the coffee machine was experiencing issues. Feedback was given in a harsh tone, and no one properly introduced themselves or explained standards.
Shortly after, I was told to stop helping and stand aside, and then asked to leave without any follow-up or clear outcome from the trial. There was no feedback, thanks, or explanation about whether I was successful.
I found the process disorganised and disrespectful of my time. While rejection is understandable, clearer communication, proper introductions, and a more supportive approach during a trial shift would have made the experience more professional.
