I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Darktrace (Cambridge, England) in Dec 2023
Interview
The recruiter reached out via email during my last year of studies. I have followed up and discussed an HR interview. They progressed with someone else, I have reached out a second time. The recruiter described the role and told me another recruiter would do a "vibe check" with me, but he is only available a week later. I reached out a week later, inquiring about the interview. We discussed Friday at 3 pm. I have asked for a video link at 2.30 pm and only heard back from the recruiter at 3.40 pm. He did not even apologize for missing the interview, just sent an email with an interview invitation for next week, without asking me if I could make it. I was asked questions like "What do you like to do in your free time?", "Why do you like rowing?", "Would you bring some members of the team rowing with you?", "What do you usually do over the weekend?" and "You seem to be very academic, why don't you pursue a PhD?".
It was surreal. I got the rejection email after that stating that they have decided to pursue an other candidate who they believe is better suited for the position. Please keep in mind that no skills or motivation to join Darktrace was tested until this point.
I guess I did not pass their "vibe check", which they called "Behavioral Interview".
Ps.: I am a woman who graduated recently with MEng.

Two interviews, both largely technical. Similar to other coding interviews. With a few programming questions (general, no coding) and some puzzles. Also, a couple of motivation questions about working for the company.
