The process involved multiple rounds over several weeks, including technical interviews, behavioral discussions, a presentation/demo round, and even an extensive compensation discussion. I was asked to provide detailed personal information, including my legal name, address, and 12 months of payslips, which made it appear that the process was nearing completion. Despite all of this, I was ultimately rejected after being told the company was still interviewing additional candidates. If the team believed my technical background or hands-on experience did not align with the role, that should have been identified much earlier rather than after investing so much time from both sides. What disappointed me most was not the rejection itself—companies have every right to choose the best candidate—but the inefficient and prolonged process. Candidates invest significant time preparing for interviews, presentations, and follow-ups. Extending the process to this extent, requesting extensive documentation, and then rejecting at the very end reflects poorly on the overall candidate experience. My advice to future candidates: be prepared for a lengthy process with no guarantee that even advanced discussions or compensation conversations indicate you're close to an offer.

Interviewed at datadog and unfortunately had a disappointing experience with the recruiter. From the beginning, the interaction felt dismissive and biased, and I got the impression that my candidacy had already been judged before the conversation really started. I asked a few standard questions about the company and role, including revenue-related questions that are publicly available since Datadog is a public company. The response I received was unnecessarily defensive and came across as belittling rather than informative. I understand recruiters have difficult jobs and busy schedules, but professionalism and respectful communication matter a lot in candidate experience — especially at a company with such a strong reputation. Sadly, this interaction did not reflect that standard.
