I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (New York, NY) in Aug 2019
Interview
I interviewed in DD Aug-Sept 2019. The whole process took about a month. The difficulty level of interview questions was appropriate. I was about to answer most questions. It didn't go through mostly due to cultural misfit.
I must say Ryan, the recuiter for the product team, is absolutely outstanding. He is always responsive and helpful. Before the onsite, he gave me a very good run-down on what to expect. Post the onsite, he emailed the disappointing news with regrets and offered to provide detailed feedbacks. The feedbacks were delivered in a very constructive and helpful way. It is a rare experience nowadays.
I cold applied online and heard back about a week later. I then had a screener call with a recruiter who super friendly. The call didn’t require any preparation. They asked pretty straight forward questions about my experience.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (New York, NY) in Feb 2026
Interview
1st round is a recruiter screening. typical questions asked like tell me about yourself, why do you want to work here. 2nd round is a hiring manager round to go into more detail on experience and technical background. there is a discussion about the specific product that you would own. Lastly there is a panel round with 2 behavior and 2 technical interviews with product and engineering leaders.
Straight forward process, last round consists of analytical, engineering collaboration, technical, and case study. I felt that the technical interview was easier than what I’d have thought. Case study interview feels a bit subjective since it had something to do with one of Datadog’s products. Recruitment process as a whole was transparent and I love that they give you feedback at the end.
