I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (Sydney) in Jul 2024
Interview
I interviewed for a Customer Success role at Datadog, and the experience was very disappointing. The recruiter kept rescheduling the interview and asked for my availability in a different time zone than the one relevant to the role.
During the prescreen, the recruiter switched off the camera, which felt unusual but might have been to avoid bias. The interview covered standard questions about my interest in Datadog and my background, but the recruiter seemed disengaged and inattentive.
At the end, I was asked about my salary expectations and received a surprisingly low offer, considering the company's industry. The recruiter mentioned the company's benefits but only spoke about stock options and being sent to NYC for training, which didn’t feel like a benefit to me. There was no mention of health insurance or PTO.
The recruiter also had little information about the team structure or dynamics. When asked about other companies I was interviewing with, I was unexpectedly asked which role I preferred, which felt unprofessional.
I was offered a next-round interview with the hiring manager but declined. The experience made me question the company's values and commitment to building a strong office culture. It felt more like I was being recruited for a sales role in a call centre than for a position at a company reputed to be a "Best Place to Work."
I withdrew from the process, disappointed by the overall experience.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Datadog
Interview
Initial reach out from recruiter on Linked in. Scheduling app to find a time. They use Ring so your carrier may see it as spam and drop the call.
Good conversation but seemed like canned questions that were already answered in my resume. DataDog does record interviews as well so be aware of that.
Salary didn't align at all with my experience so I declined moving forward. Also requiring hybrid work and commute is not tenable at this stage in my career so overall we were very misaligned with my current title (SR role) to a front line manager role.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Datadog (Singapore) in Apr 2026
Interview
Was initially approached by the recruiter directly. The conversation was standard with standard questions, however it appeared that the questions were not relevant to my experience and the recruiter seemed irate at questions asked and had an overall condescending demeanour.
Recruiter was late. Just a prescreen call. Did not progress passed this point as there were stronger candidates in the pipeline. She was pretty unresponsive and seem unorganized about the whole thing.
