After submitting my resume and LinkedIn profile, I received an email from the local office manager / HR coordinator. We scheduled an initial screening call for a few days later. That call was a basic screening to verify my experience and get an initial feel for my personality (and for me to get more information about the position and company). A face to face interview was scheduled with a local sales / business development leader. The office was easy to find and I was greeted and offered some water. I initially spoke with the office manager about the scope of the role and then the sales leader joined us. The interview was fairly conversational in tone and heavily focused on behavioral questions. Both interviewers were quite forthcoming with more information about the role. I was then given a tour of their facility. I was told that they had at least one more person to meet with and that I would hear back in a few days. I felt very positive about the interview and was very hopeful for an offer. The next day, the sales leader emailed me for my salary expectations. I was pretty sure at that point that I would be getting an offer. A three day weekend interfered with hearing back right away. As the following week progressed, I was more and more anxious for a reply. I finally had to reach back out to them for a status update about two weeks after the in person. I finally received a nice, but canned email that they had chosen another candidate.
