      Application

I interviewed at Dollar General (Lima, OH)

      Interview

It was a simple down to earth process and it went well. I learned what was expected of me and what wasn't. I really like the tour and was happy to see that after a few weeks of dedicating a lot of time i would be able to have the store in good shape.

There was two parts to the interview. Phone interview and then a in person interview at one of the local stores. And if you were chosen you would take another interview with the district manager

      General Manager Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Dollar General in Dec 2015

      Interview

I was calles by a recruiter within a few days of applying who conducted a phone interview which was pleasant. He was very sure that I would be a good match for the store, and immediately alerted the district manager to contact me. She contacts me the next day to set up the interview, and on that following Monday I went in for the first interview. I was dressed professionally, put on my best retail face, and went into the interview confidently, yet the lady interviewing me was unpleasant to me to say the least. She showed up 40 minutes late, in less than presentable attire to sneer at me and tell me that my previous experience as a general manager of another store was not "real" retail management. I continued with the interview anyways trying to show this woman that I was more than qualified for the position when she suddenly interrupted an answer to a question she asked by telling me to follow her into the back area. She explained that I was too small to actually stock the store, and made me pick up the heaviest item the store carried to prove that I could do it. At that point, she was just downright rude. After that, she ended the interview telling me that she would call me in the next few days if she had a sales associate position available, because I was not fit for management. I've never been so insulted at an interview in my life. No wonder the store is under staffed, that woman is terrible! Don't bother applying at any store in Winston Salem!
