I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2024
Interview
Had an initial recruiter call, and the comp range they gave was not very competitive with other big tech companies in the US. However, I decided to interview anyway.
I passed the initial phone screen (LC question) and moved on to the onsite. Before the onsite, a recruiter told me that any offers they extend are exploding -- 72 hours to accept. I did the interviews and noticed that every single interviewer was an East Asian man. A couple of the interviewers mentioned how intense the culture is, and they said engineers are expected to contribute right away.
I thought all the onsite interviews went well, but I ended up not getting an offer. They don't give any feedback whatsoever. Don't waste your time!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Leetcode-style question in the phone screen. The onsite had more real world problems, including a debugging interview where the interviewer kept interrupting to tell me what the bugs were before I was able to find them myself.
Walking into the coding interview, I was taken aback when they asked about finding the K nearest restaurants based on coordinates. Just days before, I had stumbled on a mock on prachub.com that mirrored this question almost exactly. The interview felt straightforward, but I struggled with some behavioral questions. Overall, the experience was underwhelming; I expected more technical depth. After several rounds, they decided to go in another direction, which was disappointing given my prep efforts.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Given a list of restaurants with their coordinates and a user's location, find the K nearest restaurants
it was very easy, they ask basic programming questions, can be solved with minimal prep, however they ask a lot about why u want to work here, be prepared to talk for a long time
1) Coding Challenge
2) Technical coding round
3) Behaviour/ hiring manager round
DSA questions asked in first 2 rounds, leetcode medium to hard. Overall process was quick, got replies within a few weeks.
