I had some knowledge of the KM drive at De Beers (remembering that E6 and De Deers are in close association with each other). I became aware of a vacancy (head of KM) at De Beers, and went on an informal panel interview there.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Element Six (Johannesburg)
Interview
I was interviewed for a Knowledge (KM) position by De Beers. I had worked in KM for the previous 9 years, introducing into DEBID (later rebranded to Element Six (E6). I had in fact introduced KM into DEBID then into E6, reporting to the Research Director. My job involved managing smallish teams of researchers and similar - in one project I was coordinating team memenders in South Africa, Ireland and Sweden. I went on business trips to Sweden, Ireland and the UK. Again reporting to the E6 Research Director.
The Mission Stetement of our company-wide KM drive went something like: "To preserve key E6competencies despite partial or total staff turnover." The "legs" of the KM drive included: IT, Information Technology, Process Improvement, HR and Intellectual property (Patents).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I don't really remember, but the question revolved around my EQ (my IQ being high).
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Element Six (Shannon) in Mar 2021
Interview
Very specific and fair questions. A good background given into what was required and the inherent culture. Knowledge gaps were explained in great detail so I had no illusions as to what was required.
Both interviewees were pleasant and knowledgeable.
The end to end process of what is done there was clear.
