Fair. Virtual and cameras on which is beneficial. No AI used. Slow process, inconsistent information from HR across the interview process. Not very well planned or considered recruitment process. Room for negotiation but not much. In the end up I regret taking this role as it does not come with the opportunities promised. Company is confusing
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Enigmatic Smile (Edinburgh, Scotland) in Aug 2023
Interview
I was contacted by Enigmatic Smile’s internal recruiter who organised a first stage interview with him, their CTO and myself. I was told they wanted a second stage interview, but I was on holiday the following week. I was told that was no problem and I communicated with the recruiter during my holiday to set up a second stage. But before an invite could be set up, he went quiet. I sent a couple of follow up texts during that time, but continued to hear nothing back. A week after I returned from my holiday I finally heard back from the recruiter. He explained he had had a death in the family and that he would contact the CTO to get him to arrange a second stage. I thanked him and gave my condolences. Then I heard nothing for 2 weeks. I then emailed the recruiter and the CTO to ask if the role was still open. The recruiter replied and apologised and said he would set up a second stage, which he did. I sat down to join the interview at the correct time, but all I got was a message saying I was waiting to be admitted to the meeting. After 7 minutes I emailed the recruiter to let him know this. He replied saying that the CTO and Scrum Master were in the call, waiting for me and that we had the same link. After some quick Google searching I discovered that the likely problem was that I needed to be admitted by the meeting owner as I did not have an Enigmatic Smile email address. I explained to him that this was likely the issue and that he would have had to be present in the call to admit me, which he wasn’t. He was apologetic and explained that he would re-organise the meeting after the following week, as it was the school holidays. I thanked him and sent along my availability. Then I heard nothing and have heard nothing in the weeks since.
