Interview
Some of the most comedic hiring processes. I applied for the first time as a Junior R & D Engineer. I e-mailed the hiring staff to ask some questions about the process and I received no answer. Excellent start, but I continued. I have an MSc. in engineering and a documented one-year laboratory experience with a published project linked in both the CV and cover letter. The job required a minimum BSc. and no experience at all. After two weeks I received a cookie-cutter rejection answer. No feedback, no explanation, of course, not even an interview. I applied again, this time as a developing engineer and part-time laborer. I was very interested in the company, so I was willing to accept even the latter role. This time I got contacted by a slightly more gentle recruiter who at least gave me a reason. They were rejecting me for the first position because they were looking for another type of engineer. Fair enough, I pointed out that I took most exams in common with that type of engineering, as documented in my study transcripts, but that's fine. For the second position I got rejected because, since it consisted of repetitive tasks, I wouldn't have earned any significant skill. This is utterly ridiculous. I can't take a position because they (arbitrarily) deemed I don't have the proper skill set, and another because it does not require any skill and I won't get any. Last time I applied for a second opening as a Junior R&D engineer, again no experience was required. This time it took one month to receive again the usual canned and tautological rejection answer. I can absolutely accept being rejected for a job, this is part of job seeking, but in four applications, for three of which I surely exceeded the requirements, I was denied even an interview or a phone call, with no motivation or absurd motivations. The hiring process is a farce. My project was never looked at (I can see the views on the page it's posted), and they never reached me on the phone. Do not bother applying if your CV can't show your last name is either Andersson, Svensson, Eriksson, etc.
