I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at FINRA (New York, NY) in May 2008
Interview
Very lengthy. Unless you are referred by FINRA employee, very hard to get hired through normal application process. Since many managers don't have the technical skills, they do not know to ask the right questions to find relevant talent.

Question 1
Examiner Position: Testing for accounting skills - certain questions were not tailored to the industry or job application (ex. cost accounting).
I applied online. I interviewed at FINRA (New York, NY) in Oct 2022
Interview
Applied online. Over a month later was called for an interview. Did the interview via videoconference with the next two tiers up the chain of command. Interview went well, but the overall experience was awful. The FINRA tries to portray themselves as this deliberate sort of organization, but the way they conducted this interview process was highly unprofessional. I was told to follow up 2-3 weeks later if I had heard nothing. I sent an email to the recruiter and the email bounced. After investing a few days in tracking someone down (the recruiter's assistant), I come to find out that the recruiter was no longer with FINRA. Assistant said she would forward my inquiry on to the new recruiter who took over for the old one. A week passes by and I follow up again with the assistant. Assistant tells me that she will forward my inquiry to the new recruiter. Three days later I hear back to be told that FINRA hired from within for the role. Trouble is, the online candidate portal got updated before then and I only knew this because I happened to go check. They couldn't even extend me the common courtesy of sending an automated "Dear John" email like most organizations do now. So...they ghosted me multiple times and then failed to give closure to the process. No wonder everyone is dropping their B/D registrations and going to the RIA model...
