      Sales Interview

      Jun 25, 2010
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at FedEx in Jan 2010

      Interview

The interview consisted of a group information session of about 60 applicants then immediately followed by a one on one interview with a sales manager. The one on one was the basic behavior and STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Response) questions. The first step basically is just like any other place, the managers are just seeing how well you might fit or really (how much they like you). Sadly, it's not all about your past experiences or qualifications. The company will train you on the sale process so don't think you know everything. This would be a good time to show that you are willing to learn and how much you like on-going training. Also, stress that you are into team success, once again, I repeat, team, team, team. This is an individual sale position, but the team and your district success is just as important. The second step in the process consists of a panel interview with two or three managers. Usually, one of the managers on the panel is the one with the opening. This is a repeat of the first one on one but with a twist since there are multiple minds at work trying to pull information from you. Remember to show initiative, relax but don't slip because they are trying to set it up in a manner that you might say this is easy but remember there are more of them than you. Overall, control the interview, just as if you were in a sales meeting, they have you there because they want to know more about you.

Company uses the STAR process for their interview process. Usually questions are between 6-10 questions. Also the interviews are done in panels. Very little room for getting to know a candidate at a personal level.
