All in all, there were five rounds to interview process; 1) a phone call with HR, 2) a zoom meeting with the department, 3) a case study to be completed in your own time, 4) in person interview with 4 people, and 5) another zoom meeting. It was a bit of a long process, but it felt reasonable for the role.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Freestone Capital Management (Seattle, WA) in Jun 2022
Had a 45 min interview with one of the associates there. Most of the interview was pretty standard behavioral questions. The interviewer then started quizzing me about the firm and other financial questions which weren’t too difficult. But then after that he started asking me some riddles? Not really sure what the relevance of this was but it completely threw off the whole interview.
- We are to play a version of Russian Roulette, the revolver is a standard six shooter but I will put two bullets in the gun in consecutive chambers. I spin the chambers, put the gun to my head pull the trigger and survive. I hand you the gun and give you a choice... You may put the gun straight to your head and pull the trigger, or you may re-spin the gun before you do the same. What is your choice and why? How does this differ from the case with only one bullet?
- A windowless room contains three identical light fixtures, each containing an identical light bulb or light globe. Each light is connected to one of three switches outside of the room. Each bulb is switched off at present. You are outside the room, and the door is closed. Before opening the door you may play around with the light switches as many times as you like. But once you've opened the door, you may no longer touch a switch. After this, you go into the room and examine the lights. How can you tell which switch goes to which light?
- Who is the founder of the firm?
- Name three companies that have IPO’d in the last six months

There were two phone interviews, followed by an in-person interview with 6 different staff members. Each interview lasted around 30 minutes, and was focused on getting to know me. Not a lot of finance specific questions, but more on how you think.
- Brain teaser questions

There was a 20-30 minute phone interview to start the process. I was then brought in for an in-person interview with 6 different people. Some of the 30 minute interview blocks were with 2 people at a time. The interviewers ranged from people who held the position currently to upper level management to the advisor that you would actually be working for.

I had a great experience through-out the interview process. My point of contact during the process was courteous and accommodating with my various work commitments. The interview was conducted efficiently and each interviewer was organized and prepared with questions that fit the role I now occupy. I had enjoyable conversations with each interviewer and was impressed the CEO took the initiative to personally meet me. Cultural fit seemed just an important to Freestone as having the proper skill set so I was asked to meet with several different employees during my interview. Not only was this beneficial for Freestone, but it allowed me to make sure it was a fit.
- They asked several questions specific to my resume, tailored to my experience and what they were looking for. They had a detailed job description that they used to try and match against my skill set, making sure proper expectations were established.

Applied online, got an interview with one of the directors. 2nd round of interviews with CFO and the department team. The CFO was rude and unprofessional, told me point blank that she didn't read my 1 page resume. Conducted the entire interview in a very condescending tone. According to her the entire hiring process consisted of at least 3-4 rounds of interviews. You have to be "approved" by everyone working there to be considered one of the team. No objective tests were given, they either "like" you or you are not invited for the next round of interviews. Plus, each interviewer asks same types of questions. The 2nd interview in the day (with the people in the accounting department) was laughable, again, no objective tests were given. I was interviewed by two very immature girls, standard copy/paste behavior type questions, the whole experience was pretty horrid. The overall feeling for me that there was that 1) they didn't care about their candidates/workers, treating them badly 2) A lot of dysfunction in the company, lots of internal strife. 3) the CFO used to work at Arthur Anderson (Enron's auditing firm), that should give you some idea at the quality of leadership at this company. Bottom line: Having a "type A" personality doesn't give you the right to be condescending and inconsiderate toward others.
- None, basic, standard behavior questions.

I applied through other source. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Freestone Capital Management (Seattle, WA) in Jul 2014
Met with almost 20 people over the course of 4 interview days of various locations and duration. Some were multiple people, some were one on one, lunch meetings. The interviews ranged from difficult, to traditional, to casual. Nothing about the interview process was rough - simple the duration of the whole process was long because the company wants to be sure you are a fit with the culture.
- Typical interview questions. Some interviews were not traditional and simply a conversation about whatever was on our minds. One interview was lunch with a partner at the firm.
