I was really excited after HR called me up for an interview (Singapore Changi Business Park). Future Electronics looks great and like a dream come true when we look at their "Profits and Values" online. That is where I was wrong. The moment I reached the venue, things went downhill. First, the interviewers were really late, and okay, I can still accept that. But what really disappointed me was that the hiring manager showed absolutely no respect during the interview and was using her phone non-stop under the desk without eye contact. It got to the stage where I had to pause for her to be done texting, and what puzzled me was that she did not pick up any cue and was still texting away while looking under the table at her phone. It was literally me speaking into the air. What's worse? I was scheduled to meet another higher-level executive that day alongside the hiring manager. This man, too, showed zero respect. He was in the company and did not want to appear for at least a handshake. His message to the hiring manager was to relay a message that "he was busy and had no time to meet me". Why is this a major red flag? The reason is simple. If he had made a commitment to meet-up for an interview, then it is basic courtesy, integrity, and mannerism that he commits to it. If there was zero intention, then do not commit! How difficult can it be to at least take one minute to let me know personally face-to-face for a re-schedule or a short handshake when he was in the company? It was not that he was out on an emergency task. I was in the company, and so was he. The end was even more perplexing. The hiring manager just came in and said "Okay, our executive is too busy to meet you; we will let you know if you are selected". She then closed the door, left me alone inside the meeting room feeling all lost, and never came back. She did not even mention that the interview had ended, and just left. So, for potential candidates or customers, this is my honest review of a company where even the higher executives do not follow the triple-bottom-line of people's value. Should you choose to demoralize and devalue yourself by contributing to companies with such management? I guess you have the answer now after reading my review and the many others who shared a similar experience. If you have wonderful skillsets and knowledge to contribute, then choose a company that at least possesses human value. My rating for the company? Zero out of Five, and a company filled with executives who have Zero respect and Zero people's value.
