GPTZero interviews FAQs
The hiring process at GPTZero takes an average of 7 days when considering 3 user submitted interviews across all job titles. To compare, the average duration of hiring at similar companies like BlackRock, Inc. is 14 days, Fabricated Software, Inc. is 2 days, and Apple Inc. is 21 days. Candidates applying for Community Director had the quickest hiring process (on average 7 days), whereas Community Director roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 7 days).
Phone screening, case presentation, take-home assignment.
The phone screening was straightforward, though the recruiter wasn’t able to answer several of my questions about the role and process.
The case study interview felt disorganized and didn’t align with the expectations set beforehand. I was asked to prepare a 30-minute portfolio presentation covering 2–3 projects, but was given significantly less time and was cut off mid-presentation due to time constraints.
The interview then shifted to behavioral questions that were not previously communicated, leaving basically no time for candidate questions.
Overall, the process felt unorganized. I’d recommend better alignment between recruiters and interviewers to set clearer expectations.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GPTZero in Aug 2025
Interview
First round/screening interview with external recruiter.
The recruiter read off a script (in an overly obvious way). Not terrible, but just felt very transactional and soulless.
In addition, the recruiter's accent was very strong, and she talked very fast (again, likely because she was just reading from a script) so at times it was very difficult to understand her. I live in NYC so I hear different accents and varying degrees all the time, but this was particularly difficult to follow along.
I would suggest slowing the conversation down so it feels like, well, a conversation, instead of a checklist.
I am unsure what next steps will be but wanted to post this about the first round/screener.

Can you work in the office 5 days a week?
Can you work late at least once per week?
What is your Immigration status?
Recruiter screening, followed by a technical take home challenge, then a coding interview and finally a chat with the CEO. The entire process was virtual, taking place over Google Meets. Questions were reasonable, nothing crazy.
