I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Detroit, MI) in Mar 2015
Interview
My profile was on gm site for a job in the Arizona area. A recruiter called me about a position in Detroit. Got to the airport, and they booked me on a later flight. Had to wait at airport for 6 hours. Interview was a all day event. Started at 8 am. As soon as I got there, I was drilled with questions until I left. Spent time interviewing with probably 10 people. The people in Detroit seemed grumpy and unpleasant, not friendly like in Denver. Worst experience ever.

Interview
Approached them at a career fair. They invited me to a company dinner. The next day they had on campus interviews. The interview lasted about an hour and they asked behavioral type questions. The interview was very laid back. They didn't press you on many issues.

Interview
I had a phone interview and my interviewer was very friendly and cordial. He explained the overall process of how the interview was going to: he explained his role and jobs. He asked me questions to get to know me better. Then he used the STAR process and asked me 3 situational / behavioral questions. Finally, he asked me if I had any questions left. It was very smooth and an overall good experience. I'm still waiting to hear back because he said if I don't hear back in a month, I should email him back and he'll clarify if I got the position or not.
