I applied online. I interviewed at Genius Innovation Lab in Jun 2025
Interview
It was a suitable interview style for me. Instead of asking technical questions that we had already been tested on countless times at university, the interview focused on my ability to deliver real tasks. The first stage centered on my personality and software background. The later rounds assessed my ability to build a couple of mini-apps and explain the technical details behind them. I appreciated the opportunity to discuss what I had already built and thought through, rather than answering LeetCode questions or hypothetical scenarios in this AI era.

Question 1
Build an app that converts audio into a black-screen video and uploads it to YouTube, with additional customization options
I interviewed at Genius Innovation Lab (Vancouver, BC)
Interview
I was tested on my real world development capabilities and skills with practical testing process rather than pointless Q&As.
I felt that this was the only best way to bring out an applicant's potential out as an interview process.
One of the most effective hiring processes I've been put through and was also connected to a hiring team in case of any doubts during my testing process. Which was very helpful.
Honestly a very convenient, to the point (straight forward) and efficient way an interview could go.

Question 1
They've asked me to build out an E2E application involving a few different API using AI.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Genius Innovation Lab (Ottawa, ON) in Apr 2026
Interview
Interview process was much like the other one posted here.
Not a single mention of either my resume or the first interview (which was one-sided through a website with 3 questions).
I was told much of the same, being told I'd have a week to do the first assignment where I may be hired immediately. If not, second assignment once again with a week window with a payment of 500$.
I was also told about the whole sub-contracting thing for large American companies.
Was completely sketched out, and declined to go further.
Don't waste your time.
