      Digital Project Specialist II Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Georgia Tech in Sep 2024

      Interview

I applied via the jobs portal and got the usual automated response. Almost a month later, I started receiving emails from HireVue, one of the popular self-recording websites, telling me that I was selected to complete a one-way video interview within several days. I also received an email from someone in GT Talent Acquisition that was a reminder to complete the video interview, which had the wrong due date (a date three months in the past, strangely). I completed the video interview and received an automated response thanking me and stating that someone from GT Talent Acquisition would be in touch if I was moved forward to the next round. That isn't what happened--instead, roughly another month passed (by this point, I assumed I didn't get the position), then I got an email not from Talent Acquisition, but from someone in the actual department hiring for the job, which had not been specified in the job description. The email stated that I was selected to move forward, then suggested a date two weeks in the future for a panel interview with actual people. This department's process took so long that I was able to complete an entire multi-interview process with a different employer, which resulted in an offer. My advice to this team is that there are numerous talented people seeking employment who don't have time to waste waiting around for unnecessarily extended processes. I was very interested in this position and I'm well aware that university hiring isn't always the quickest process, but if it takes an entire month to watch video recordings of potential candidates, why not schedule an actual live first interview to save everyone some time? No one likes one-way interviews, and it's additionally odd that HireVue doesn't seem to be universally used by Georgia Tech--so why is this department doing that?

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I don't remember specifics but they weren't standard behavioral questions--they were at least somewhat tailored to the actual position advertised. They also weren't proofread and had a few typos.
