I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Greenwich Strategy in Jan 2023
Interview process is described in the initial phone screen call with Beth. 1. Initial phone screen 2. Excel assessment (Modeling exercise, challenging, but interesting) 3. case study with practice's lead 4. Typical "super-day" / final round on-site
- Q: Walk me through your resume Q: What are your career goals over the next 2-5 years

Interview process is very straightforward and clear. First round phone interview to gauge if you have the background. Second round is an excel test, relatively fair. I enjoyed this very much. I think it's a good test of skills. Third round is a case study. I think this was the highlight of the process, I doubt I'm gonna continue further. I won't spoil the case, but it is very arithmetic based. I think in my mind I was to busy trying to jump ahead instead of looking at the problem at hand. Very simple percentages and calculations. Ultimately I choked and messed up badly on the last question. It wasn't difficult at all, just that my nerves got to me. Chris and his wife beth are really nice people, and that was entirely a failure on my end.
- Simple math percentages, sizing of market. Remember to take notes, and be good with being able to calculate things by your head.

The interview process consists of four steps. The first is a phone call with Beth, which is a 30-minute interview where the details of the role are explained to you with a couple of general questions about your background. The second step is an Excel modeling assignment, which you are given three hours to complete. The third step is a case study with Chris, and the fourth step is a final round at their location in Providence (note: not covered!) and is a mix of a larger case study with more Excel. You'll also get the chance to have lunch with the other analysts/associates there. In terms of what you need to know, basic Excel functions (up to VLOOKUP) and knowing your way around Excel is definitely helpful. Being able to do quick, simple multiplication in your head will also help. In terms of the experience, I definitely recommend trying your best and going through with the entire process. Beth, Chris, and everyone else at the office were all incredibly nice and intelligent. It's a nice trip to Providence (cute small town). I would describe it as a super fun crash course on niche strategy consulting where you get to have five instructors--a great learning experience and a great experience overall.
- Besides simple multiplication, some logic and common sense-based questions. For example, reasons why a consumer might want to purchase a certain product, or when a company might be concerned about a competitor usurping its market share, etc.

The process is done in ~4 stages: resume drop/phone screen, take home technical exercise, case study with the Managing Parter, and then a final round in person at their Providence office
- Phone Screen: typical tell me about yourself, why Greenwich, asking questions to show you'd done your research Take Home Technical: You have up to 3 hours to do an Excel analysis on "crawler cranes". Pretty straightforward and easy if you know your way around Excel. Case Study: Is more of a mental math exercise. Managing Partner is pretty nice and welcoming but could be intense. Final Round: As you would expect, meeting the small team to make sure you gel with them & another lengthier case interview

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Greenwich Strategy
Introductory phone screen followed by Excel case study. Depending on Excel case study, you will be requested to do a case (similar to big 3 consulting). Normally, the case is in person with the partners.
- Why do you want to work here?

Interview process was introductory call followed by excel test. Excel test really focuses on presentation and aesthetics, the actual work wasn't difficult. Overall positive experience and plan to keep in touch in the future, as they don't typically hire inexperienced candidates.
- Are you willing to relocate?

Four sections: First a phone screening - just a basic conversation to see where you're at and answer any general questions you have. Then an excel assessment - this is moderately difficult but since you are given 3 hours to work on it, there shouldn't be many issues. Given data and asked to project a market share. Third is a skype case interview - this was rather simple especially compared to case interviews at larger companies like Capital One or Bain. Pretty straightforward as you talk about a market sizing of radio towers in an area. You will be tested on simple quick math. The last round is in person and lasts around 5-6 hours total times but this includes an hour or so eating lunch. It is split into 3 sections and you initially talk through the case to the whole team at the beginning of each section and get any background information. You are then given a computer with an excel file with ~10 sheets and have to sift through the data to create charts that are asked of you. My only complaint about the final round is that any time you ask a question, everyone on the team surrounds you and looks over your shoulder as Chris asks you questions. It definitely causes unnecessary pressure and can't possibly do a good job measuring someone's actual ability. After going through the whole process, it seems like a really solid firm that works on impactful work.

Overall, an interesting but very unique process. First was quick phone interview on background and interest. Next was an Excel test - pretty straightforward, you have 3 hours to use the given data and come to an answer regarding market size, growth, etc. The third round was a "case study." I put this in quotes because it was very dissimilar to any other case study I've been asked before; you're essentially given an old case and a variety of numbers and terms (which are totally unfamilar to you), and asked to calculate certain metrics. Nothing like what I was expecting. Similar to the experience of others on this page, I found the whole thing to be heavily quantitative, I only remember one qualitative/strategy question in the entire 45 min interview. I was told I passed (despite knowing I did poorly) and then a week later was informed I would not be moving forward. All this being said, my interactions with the firm were very good. Analysts were open to talking about their experience, the interviewer gave a large amount of useful and insightful feedback when I emailed for it after my third round, and I still think highly of the firm (also since then, I've mentioned it to others in the industry and all of them knew of the firm). Every firm has their quirks, and so while I was very thrown off by the interview and it got the better of me, the whole process was handled well and obviously they have a reason for the way they do things after such a long period.
- Metrics related to an old case study

Whole process took about six weeks. Basic phone screening, then excel case study that takes two hours, then video case interview, then in person four hour case interview. In person interview was very unorganized and unprofessional. You basically get thrown into a corner of their office and work on a computer on your own. Not sure how they gauge your thought processes or aptitude. You will spend half the time twiddling your thumbs waiting for them to come look at your computer. Does not seem like the place you'd want to work.
- Standard market sizing questions in excel.

Similar experience as other reviewers - I was first contacted by email, asking to set-up an initial phone screening. Nothing too major with the screening just gauging an idea for who I am and providing some more background on the firm. After that I was asked to complete a financial modeling exercise on excel. This took between 1.5-3 hours and was fairly straight forward. Afterwards they scheduled a skype interview during which the Partner gave a case interview regarding the cell phone tower industry. It was straight to business, he didn't have any interest in small talk. He was late to join the call and seemed to rush through the beginning/premise of the case, but really it just ended up being a lot of arithmetic applied to the situation. At a certain point it just felt like he was quizzing me on my math skills (which I admit are a bit rusty without excel). At the end he told me I passed the case overall, however I didn't receive an invite to their final round. I was surprised about how quantitative the case study was, rather than focusing on qualitative business analysis/strategy. Strange experience overall, no strong feelings either way.
