      Engineer Interview

      Dec 3, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Gurgaon, Haryana
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Guardian Life (Gurgaon, Haryana) in Nov 2024

      Interview

To begin the process, you'll first need to complete an aptitude test on Mettl. The test can be quite lengthy, but the cutoff is relatively low, around 50-60%. If you pass the aptitude test, you'll move on to the first technical round. In the first technical round, you will be asked questions on core Java, Spring Boot annotations, and possibly some SQL queries. The interviewer is likely to be from Chennai, and there may be a slight bias against candidates who are not from Chennai. They may try to eliminate you early on, but if you can answer all their questions to their satisfaction, you will progress to the second round. The second round is usually a panel interview. Be prepared for this, especially if the panel members are also from Chennai. If you're from the North, this round might be a bit challenging due to regional biases. However, if you manage to clear all their doubts and answer confidently, they will still try to find reasons to reject you. Even if you suggest conducting a walk-in interview or offer to visit the office in person, they may not be responsive. If your interview panel happens to be from Chennai, be prepared for a tough but fair process. The questions themselves are not extremely difficult, but it’s important to be well-prepared. Focus on core Java, Spring (especially annotations), and Java 8 Streams, as these are essential. A Request: I would like to kindly request the company to ask the Chennai-based interviewers to avoid any bias against candidates from other regions. It’s important to treat every candidate fairly, regardless of where they are from. There are highly qualified individuals urgently seeking employment, and it’s disheartening when they clear all the rounds, only to be rejected due to regional bias. Is this truly fair? If someone from the senior management is reading this, I sincerely request that this issue be looked into and addressed. Thank you. Overall, it's a good company with a decent interview process. Just be confident, answer to the best of your ability, and prepare thoroughly on the technical topics mentioned above.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Expect coding questions on string manipulation and arrays, like GCD of strings, longest substring, and merging two strings in parallel. You’ll also be tested on Java 8 streams, including operations like counting occurrences, filtering, and mapping. The focus is on testing your logic and understanding of core Java and Java 8 features.
