      Entry Level Programmer Interview

      Apr 7, 2010
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      South Houston, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at HCSS (South Houston, TX) in Mar 2010

      Interview

Basically, I was told I needed to first sign up for an aptitude screening test before being further considered for a job. i waltzed in there and sat down to take a timed test that honestly could have come from a college entrance exam. I did well on the exam, and later found out on their website that I passed it and would soon be contacted for a phone interview. A day or two later, when the phone interview comes, I'm talking to an Indian or Pakistani woman whom I can hardly understand. I have great answers for everything she asks me about, and the interview is going well. Then she asks me what I have found out about the company and the company's products through my own independent research. That's where the ball got dropped. I knew the basics of what the company did, and had a fair idea of what my potential job would entail. I had applied to easily over 20 positions that month. I had neither the time nor the desire to learn all I could about that particular company, especially when, just like any other potential employee, I ONLY CARED ABOUT THE JOB I would be doing. Thanks for screening me off the job simply because I didn't paint my nose brown.
