      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HERE Technologies (Burnaby, BC) in Dec 2017

      Interview

applied online, got first phone interview within a days, talked to HR, then setup interview with manager for couple days later. Easy talk with manager, asked lots of questions about everything from Jasmin javascript to agile methodology. Got on site interview two weeks later. The manager and senior engineer asked me about my past works, and they specifically asked how did I implement google firebase Auth protocol in MVC architecture. They did wanna see the call back code, in javascript, and how I managed the call back. They were very interested in javascript. I explained that and showed the codes on my blog. Then a two data analyst came to interview me for next 45 mins. asked about how well do I know MySQL. The guy gave me three tables, and asked me to find the new devices occurred in month of July and asked me to write sql query on the board. Next they asked about polymorphism and virtual function. The last group came in to ask deep questions. The person put aside my resume and started asking me to remove duplicate in an integer array in javascript. I asked if I could do it in C and C++, he did not like it, but I did solve the problem and he stared asking questions like what is difference between new foo(), and foo foo. What is a DLL, what is class VS function, what happens with complier when it sees a class vs function, what is difference of struct and class, and why not building function and methods in a struct VS a class, what is protected, public and private member. How does complier allocate memory for a class, vs function or a method. They some questions about what is an instance of a class vs a class instructor and how does complier behaves when it sees these stuff.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at HERE Technologies (Mumbai) in Dec 2025

      Interview

They took 3 rounds. Recruiter reached out to me on call and scheduled interviews. They were really professional and I did like the overall process. THere was timely communication from recruiters after each round as well. The only reason I declined was 2 Lakh of difference in the base of what was offered and what I expected.

      Interview

Interview Experience at HERE Technologies (Lead Software Engineer Role) My interview experience was very disappointing and unprofessional. The process included just one DSA question and one SQL query (to find the Nth highest salary). I solved both successfully, yet the feedback took 5 days to arrive, only to be told it was “not positive” with no explanation. Cons: Lack of transparency in evaluation. Very slow response time (took almost a week for basic feedback). Feedback was vague and not constructive. Overall, it felt like a waste of time. Advice to Management: If you reject a candidate, provide clear and timely feedback. Candidates invest serious time and effort into preparation and deserve a more professional experience.

      Lead Software Engineer Interview

      Jul 18, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Warsaw, Masovia
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HERE Technologies (Warsaw, Masovia) in Jun 2022

      Interview

I was contacted by an HR employee from Here Technologies over LinkedIn. The company seemed interesting as well as the projects described in a message. I decided to give it a try. Whole process is very friendly and informal. First meeting is a general HR talk where you can find out more about the company and teams you will be recruited for. Next is the meeting with Engineering Manager who runs the target team. I was considered for two different locations (Cracow, PL or Chicago, US; job is 100% remote) so I attended two meetings with different managers. They were both very friendly and well informed as to what tech stack is used, aware of systems architecture, volumes of traffic being served and data being processed. Even down to versions of tools and languages used. I consider this a huge plus. Then there are 3 technical interviews (45 minutes each), in my case led by either Principal Software Engineers or Lead Software Engineers. I had these 3 interviews scheduled on 2 days. This is the part where you are asked technical questions focusing on design and problems related to distributed systems. Also, during 2 of these interviews, I was asked to share my screen and do some coding. The choice of tasks is rather well balanced considering constrained time and if you are familiar with LeetCode's medium-classified problems you should have no problem solving them. I didn't manage to solve entire problem in any of the interviews but it is not necessarily the goal of such tasks. I had the opportunity to show how I approach the problem, how I code the solution using TDD and discuss the process along the way. In my opinion such coding tasks during the recruitment process are a must and I consider these a plus. And that's it - whole process took less than two weeks and an offer was presented to me, which I accepted. If it wasn't for my limited availability during that time, it may have even been a bit shorter than said two weeks.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Microservices are very popular nowadays and everyone seems to be so fond of them. But are there any difficulties or downsides related to microservice architecture?
      Answer question

      Question 2

How distributed databases work around the problem of data inconsistency after node's downtime.
