My interview with Hugel Australia was conducted in an aggressive and unprofessional manner, demonstrating a lack of industry insight, understanding, and awareness of key product drivers. The interaction was hostile and unconstructive, creating an intimidating and condescending environment. The HR agency employed to mitigate recruitment were both professional and engaging to work with, but l withdrew from the process after the first interview.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at HUGEL in Jan 2023
Interview
The interview process was pretty involved. It consisted of a 30-minute intro call with the recruiter, an hour intro call with the hiring manager, then a 3-hour block with the marketing team - all together, I invested about 12 hours in interviewing, tailoring my portfolio (which I never received feedback on after they specifically requested it, so I don't think they ever reviewed), researching the company and intermediate calls with the recruiter. The people I met with were professional and asked good questions, however, I find it very disappointing that I went through the entire interview process and they ghosted me at the very end after giving me very promising feedback. I understand I'm not going to win every interview, but I do expect the respect of a phone call, or at least an email when everything is said and done. One thing I will add, they definitely push the 'we're a family here' message a lot, so take that as you will, but that's always a red flag for me when it comes to sussing out workplace dynamics.
