I recently interviewed with Happiest Minds Technologies, and the first round was an online AI-based assessment conducted by their automated interviewer named PIHU. The experience was quite smooth, and the interface was easy to use.
Type of Questions Asked
The assessment covered both technical and managerial scenarios. The mix of questions felt realistic and relevant to day-to-day work. Below are the main areas covered:
🔹 Technical Topics
Snowflake Data Warehousing:
Concepts like virtual warehouses, micro-partitions, time travel, schema design, and performance optimization.
ETL & Data Pipelines:
Questions on pipeline orchestration, data transformation logic, and incremental loads.
AWS Services:
Focus on S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, and API integration workflows.
API Data Ingestion:
Handling authentication, pagination, and error handling in API-based pipelines.
🔹 Managerial & Scenario-Based Questions
PIHU also asked strong situational questions such as:
How do you handle conflicts in a team?
How do you decide the priority of tasks when multiple items are assigned?
What is the difference between data quality and data integrity?
How do you handle production failures or unexpected issues in a pipeline?
I found these questions thoughtful because they test not just technical depth but also decision-making and communication skills.
What I Liked
The variety of questions showed that the company values end-to-end understanding of data engineering.
AI interviewer (PIHU) responded quickly and maintained a good flow.
The assessment covered real-life scenarios rather than theoretical-only questions.
Overall Impression
The interview was well-structured and balanced between technical and managerial evaluation. Good for candidates who have strong hands-on experience in Snowflake, ETL, AWS, and API integrations, along with problem-solving abilities.
I felt the assessment fairly tested my skills and gave a good impression of the company’s technical maturity.
