I first had a phone screen with a member of HR and had a good conversation. I was scheduled for a second-round interview and was told it would consist of situational/behavioral questions following the STAR format. Upon joining the interview, I was asked about my technical experience and learned I would be doing a live 30 minute coding exercise. I informed my interviewer I hadn't prepared for a technical interview and emailed HR to explain that I felt caught off-guard. I'll never know if this was a miscommunication or a pop quiz because I never heard back after my email and subsequent follow up.
