    Portfolio Office Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Newcastle upon Tyne, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Home Group (Newcastle upon Tyne, England (UK)) in March 2017.

    Interview

A coffee / informal chat followed by a formal interview, supposedly by 3 managers (only 2 attended in fact). 10 questions, part experience based in line with the job description and part based upon the company values

    Interview Questions

    • How would you put together a portfolio and ensure it is balanced   1 Answer
    • A question around handling a project where the goal posts were moving, asked in such a way it lent itself more the portfolio manager than the portfolio office manager. .Once again I am suspicious that the role applied for was the one I was interviewed for in this respect. The Portfolio Office Manager would ensure effective governance is in place to formally receive the change as a change request, recognize it as such, arrange impact analysis, determine impact on time. cost and quality and then make recommendations to a Change Approval Board as to its impact on delivery. The question was badly framed for a portfolio office manager.   1 Answer

    Customer Service Advisor Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Newcastle upon Tyne, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Home Group (Newcastle upon Tyne, England (UK)) in March 2017.

    Interview

Interview included role play and questions based on Home Group's values.

Home Group said I would hear by phone the same day but I actually received a generic email that evening. When I asked for feedback I was told they were "busy" and didn't hear anything for weeks.

Since then, they have been in touch to discuss this but said they had the wrong phone number for me. I find this hard to believe, seeing as my correct phone number was used for the initial phone interview. I have since provided them with my mobile number and heard nothing back.

    Executive Director Marketing Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Newcastle, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Home Group (Newcastle, England (UK)) in September 2016.

    Interview

Absolutely bizarre. Located in what could only be described as a 70s 'cave'. As the meeting was presented as 'not an interview' it was not clear what the purpose of the meeting actually was. It felt like a carefully manipulated game which was rather inappropriate given the challenges faced by the leadership.

    Interview

Comprised of a technical test and 45 min interview. 2 member of staff interviewed, one currently doing the role and the director. Interview was well conducted, very professional. There were no trick questions asked to try and catch you out. Overall, it appears a good company to work for.
