I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hy-Vee (Iowa City, IA) in Apr 2013
Interview
After submitting a resume and applying online I recommend going in person and meeting with your store director face-to-face. If you get a call they will set up an interview at the store with usually an operations manager and store director. Read up on the core values of the business which can be found on their website. Questions are pretty basic, they want to know your short and long term goals and why you would be a great fit for them. Energetic, outgoing, responsible people will make the best fit.

Question 1
What does 'being socially responsible' mean to you?
It was a simple interview. It Depends who interviews you on the difficulty. Simple questions unless you are interviewing with a store manager. Questions are not consistent store to store.

Interview
Simple interview process. The lady who interviewed me was nice. There was nothing crazy about the interview. very typical. However, for a manager's position, the pay is low. I don't recommend working here as there are most likely better places to work.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hy-Vee (Shakopee, MN) in Feb 2019
Interview
They called me in for an interview with the director. I was asked about my strength and weaknesses. What I liked/disliked in a job. I stressed how much I care about customer service and he really appreciated it. It's definitely something they look for. He said assistant manager was considered an entry level management position and offered to hire me on the spot. I had two and a half years of experience being a supervisor and a food service company.
