Intech's interview process went in three parts: First was a standard in-person interview with two individuals, going over the candidates background, lightly covering Intech's technical environment and clients. I was told for the second interview that job and family services (JFS) would be contacting me. I asked why JFS, and was given really no answer. Later, I found that Intech tries to get new employees to see if they qualified for some Ohio Grant so their company could receive funding for "training". Here's where the red flags kick in. JFS did contact me, it was a short interview mainly asking me personal questions regarding living arrangements and salary. I felt this was too much, I was interviewing for a job, not to see if I could qualify for some state benefits. My current salary was well above their bar for being considered for any qualification, so I knew I was in the wrong place. After JFS informed me my information for this application was not dependent on the hiring decision, I quickly chose to opt-out. Next, I was contacted for a third interview where I was suppose to meet the team and learn more about the company. I must have offend the owner, as he immediately brought up why I chose to opt-out of the JFS grant, to which I responded truthfully, stating how the entire event left me feeling uncomfortable. He informed me this was all based on their training policy, and they do get a little "kick back" with money. The interview consisted of their small team mostly drilling me with questions for an hour. I did not mind this, but I was a little worried when I asked my interviewers what they did for the company and received little to no answer. I did learn that InTech runs old 2008 Microsoft servers, but also newer tech like VMware server applications. One employee during my interview seemed to have some issue with the equipment my previous employer used, and ensured I knew his opinion. It was a little cringe-y when he starting blaming the NSA for flawed hardware from eight years ago, especially after the Spectrum Meltdown. It was a pretty abrasive interview style, I felt like some employees were a little too cocky about their opinions. All in all, I felt like Intech was kind of a sleazy company. The salary base was quite low, lower than the market average. The team is small and their is about 60% travel involved.
