Mock-shopping experience. Fastest 3 to finish got the offer. They gave you a list of 4-7 items to shop around with and you had to grab all the right items. Then you sat down and discussed scheduling/location. It was about a 1hr time commitment.

I applied online. I interviewed at Instacart (New York, NY) in Nov 2023
The manager at the store is very responsive via text. She offered great support at each step of the interview process. The website is very slow and lagged during the peak shopping hours. It takes me hours to upload 3 one-minute video.
- What make you a good shopper?

everything is online. You have to wait until your card arrives in the mail, activate it, and start looking for batches. The welcome package included an Instacart lanyard to wear around your neck while shopping.

Initial phone screen with recruiter, then a 2hr + data science-related coding challenge - focused on analytic problem solving and related coding of data science problems. Ran out of time.

3 rounds. Very transparent and friendly throughout the process. Interviews were average difficulty. Straightforward recruiter call, and then more behavioral questions the further you progress. I would recommend this company to anyone interested.
- Why Instacart? Why do you want to leave?

I went through first round phone interview with them. When I asked how's the company culture. She replied " It's ok" in a very nonchalant manner. It sounded like she didn't enjoy working there.

It was a waste of time, don’t even bother with the recruiter interview. They don’t know what they’re talking about, don’t have details on the position, and are generally rude. Look elsewhere!

Multiple panels with different people in the business. I found it a really solid way to learn different parts of the business. I was able to use that as I moved in the process.
- Have you ever led a team? What are tactics you use to motivate?

Applied 3 weeks ago. Got an invite directly from the hiring manager. The first round is hm call with a dive on resume followed by two technical questions, one about statistics, one about case study. Relatively hard interview compared with others.
- how do you define churn

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart (Santa Monica, CA)
The interview process is fairly standard. Recruiter screen => Hiring Manager => Panel The hiring manager immediately turned off after I provided an answer that probably wasn't what he was looking for. He proceeded to talk about how much he loved ice baths and didn't really provide much information or effort when I tried to engage towards the interview and role as he had already made his mind. This hiring manager was a new manager and it showed.
