      Programmer Interview

      Aug 13, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Lowell, AR
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at J.B. Hunt Transport (Lowell, AR)

      Interview

I had 2 separate jobs I interviewed for. The first I did not receive an offer, and it was a large panel interview with several current employees and a couple managers. It was honestly kind of intimidating, and though I felt I did well and left with a nice conversation with one of the managers, I did not receive an offer. The second time, I was interviewed by 2 managers and a couple employees. This time it went much more smoothly and felt more casual. I received an offer within the next week where I went in for a follow up interview, and subsequent offer/acceptance process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A technical question that I wasn't prepared for. It was more of a textbook question than I would have expected, but I do not remember precisely what it was.

      Interview

Your joy will be departmental; I had an absolutely wonderful time as an intern and then made a 180 when applying to a position after college that was better-suited to my skillset -- the hiring manager did a good job of alienating with constantly referring to employees as "FTEs" and then asking if I went to any local churches. He scoffed at my opening salary, which I thought was pretty fair given my experience (and looking at glassdoor now, it was fair). JB Hunt is definitely a good ol' boys corporation, so be ready. Trust me young folks, there's better options if you will glimpse outside Arkansas. Get an internship first, learn from the intelligent guys who work there, and then make the corporate cog decision.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

So, do you go to any churches?
