I applied online. I interviewed at JAM Direct (Toronto, ON)
Interview
I had a first round interview with 2 account managers for 30 minutes, with very standard questions, such as tell me about yourself, how to manage data, about doing complex campaigns. I learned in the interview that the job would require a lot of collaboration and that there would be 4-5 rounds of interviews. The focus of the interview was less on soft skills and more on hard skills, even though the job description made it sound like they needed a variety of skills. None of the questions or information from the pre-interview questionnaire was used in the interview. In the interview, it felt like they wanted to screen out whether I would be willing to withstand the demands of agency life and figure out what kinds of candidates are available in the job market. Again, the job description did not make it clear what kinds of hard skills they are looking for. The Glassdoor reviews and interview reviews did not give a great look for the company, while the new JAM Direct entry does not even connect with this page
Had an interview with 2 account managers for 30 minutes, very standard questions. I learned in the interview that the job would require a lot of collaboration and that there would be 4-5 rounds of interviews—which seems silly because this job offers low pay, almost no benefits, and poor work/life balance (recruiter would message me at 6pm, which is already a red flag). I was only interested in the interview and am glad I did not prepare/research this company further besides using Glassdoor. In the interview, it felt like they wanted to suss out if I would be willing to withstand the demands of agency life with poor pay, etc.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself, why do you want to work here, what kind of leadership did you have in the past, what kind of team/environment have you worked in?
Lengthy but smooth process. They had multiple interviews setup. However they were always communicative regarding dates or changes. I found the interview to be average in difficulty. They were definitely some challenging questions but alot of them were HR based and situational.
