Applied online about 2/3 months ago. No news from them. Experis the recruitment agency contacted me about 1/2 weeks before the actual interview to say that they would like to interview me. I replied to them that I prefer to attend the interview on Tuesday or Thursday because of my interpreters' availabilities. They replied to say that Friday is the only available date, I wasn't keen on postponing this even further, so I booked a random interpreter with no knowledge in computer science.
Despite of all that, the interview went really well. Paul Heywood was kind and caring, and showed me around the building. Great guy. He introduced me to the other two guys, James Wormwell and Mike Skaife. Again they were caring and supportive. Paul left the room for me to start the interview with James and Mike. We talked about technologies, and what attracts me to Agile, and what are the key benefits of TDD and so on.
Mike Skaife started the technical test with me. I think it was Fizz Buzz something. This is something I haven't done before. I was keen to get this task completed but ran out of time. With my dyslexia it is hard to focus on something under pressure, and time limit too. However Mike was nice guy, and helped me on few things. We talked about regex expression which is useful for finding numbers in the string.
I was feeling positive after this interview. Really excited to be part of this digital journey as it is a start-up company. Unfortunately they rejected my application because of my technical test, which I was gutted and disappointed. I am a seasoned programmer but never get around to this FizzBuzz test.
I hope to apply to this role maybe next year.
Good luck with this digital journey!
