The first, rather long interview with a company manager was remote and went fine, then the recruiter invited me for the second interview in person in the Bristol office. Before the second interview I spent a few days learning the new material that was required to discuss the job in detail. To make it to the second interview on time, it took me to leave home in another city at 6 in the morning and to return at 11 in the evening. I spent the day travelling and made two flights, the total travel expense was around £120. The second interview did not go well: another manager, whom I saw for the first time ever, attended the meeting, spoke somewhat strange and looked annoyed. They mentioned they have a lot of money, yet didn't offer to reimburse my travel expense. I entirely accept the company does not owe everyone a job offer, but if someone who has a say in hiring does not like a candidate, it would be much more mindful to make it clear at the video call stage.
