Social Media & Content Editor Interview

      Dec 12, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at KPMG (London, England) in Nov 2017

      Interview

I applied for the role through Indeed and had an email from someone on the recruitment team fairly quickly to arrange a first stage phone interview. The interview itself went really well and I had positive feedback from the manager there and then. I was then contacted to arrange a second stage interview which was to involve a presentation and a writing test. I had to take a day off to prep for and attend this interview and spent a lot of time researching and pulling it all together. I attended the interview at their Canary Wharf office. It was very formal and to be honest the interviewers (hiring managers) were quite stiff, verging on intimidating. It definitely wasn't a great shop window to go and work there so I think there's probably something to be said for some hiring manager interview training. At the end of the interview things became quite disorganised. I was left waiting in a booth for 20 minutes whilst the hiring manager went off to find the materials for the writing test. He then came back and said he could find it. If I hadn't have taken the day off for this it would have been extremely frustrating. I then never heard anything back from them. The interview was in November 2017. I actually haven't even had an official rejection. It's a shocking recruitment process that paints KPMG in a very bad light and shows a total lack of respect for candidates' time and energy, especially as I'd done a presentation. The feedback could have really helped me to progress in later interviews. It's left a very bad taste in my mouth about the company as feedback at second stage where an interview was involved is just basic manners.
