I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at La Petite Academy (Lithonia, GA) in Oct 2018
Interview
I applied via Indeed for one location but a different location called to schedule an interview. My interview took place in the morning. Upon initial appearance the building is run down & very old. The front door is locked & can only be unlocked by the front office assistant. There is a tv screen that displays the classroom activity so you can get an idea of the entire place & what the kids do. I waited a few minutes for the site director to become ready for our interview. I arrived 15 minutes early. The interview took place in a small closet like room. The site director looked over my resume & asked me about my experience. There was only one situational question and no personality questions. I also did not have to take any assessments online. It was more so about needs in the center. The site director expressed that she needed someone that wants a career and not just a job. I met with her for about 10 minutes max. Afterward, you are required to do a "working interview." The working interview consists of being able to manage a group of kids while doing an activity (i.e. reading them a story, singing a song, etc.) I found this uncomfortable only because the lead teacher did not help at all. It was like throwing someone that couldn't swim into a pool & watching them drown. Luckily for me, kids love me so it was no problem getting them to like me but it was difficult getting them to listen & sit while I read. That took about 30 minutes & I got through 2 books out of 3. Following that, I got interviewed again with the assistant site director & she asked more so preference questions (i.e age group, availability, hours, potty training, bus experience to drive, etc.) She briefly expressed the day-to-day task but made sure to tell that everyone is responsible for cleaning bathrooms. She never mentioned hourly & I forgot to ask.
I found this whole interview process very unusual. I'm supposed to wait until Monday for a call back but I will be declining.
The interview went pretty smooth and friendly. Communication is happy and the questions are not so hard, all about situations happened in class. They also invited me to tour their campus.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at La Petite Academy (Iowa City, IA) in Dec 2023
Interview
The director was not present for my interview. the assistant director asked me hypothetical questions regarding what I’d do in a teaching scenario. She asked me questions about my personal life, but it was mostly scripted stuff she was reading off a paper. I was given a tour of the building. I was told about the different age groups and what part of the building they reside in and what the different teaching styles were for each age group. It was a very short interview maybe like 30 min at the most.

Question 1
I’m leading a group of children ages 1-2. And it’s lunch time or snack time. I’m supposed to give them oranges and gold fish. How do I turn that into a learning experience instead of just having them eat?
