I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lam Research (Portland, OR) in Apr 2015
Interview
Applied online, got an email from one of the field process engineering team about a month later to set up a phone interview. It went well, so they asked me for an in-person interview 2 weeks later, which consisted of an informal lunch and then 4 30-minute interviews. Everyone was extremely nice. This was followed up a week later with a phone interview with their VP, who was also really nice.

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Lam Research
Interview
Supposed to be a HR screening call, was told I did not need to prepare anything, but it turned out to be a full-on interview with HR, with typical interview questions. Also was asked if I understand the responsibilities of the role and what clients the company typically work with (this was supposed to be a screening call?)

Q: What's your different challenges in academics and life.
Q: What's your future plan if you get enrolled in our company.
Interviewer sounded condescending, loads of technical questions and a few expected questions on the company and the candidate's interests. They pinpointed on certain experiences from my resume for me to elaborate on the technical aspect.
