Retained recruiter search, skype with hiring manager, face to face with multiple people. Role on paper was exciting and company is building a strong strategy in the IoT space through internal development and acquisitions. During face to face interview it was revealed the size of business was much smaller than originally advertised and was stagnating/declining. Also, P&L ownership was exaggerated, was really pro forma and not true ownership of all/most key levers. Future product pipeline seemed to be missing and marketing communication spend was large for size of business and effectiveness was not clear. One interviewer showed up with the wrong resume, simple mistake but compounded by calling me the wrong name. Another interviewer was critical of several others on my interview agenda, questioning their effectiveness at their job.
