I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at LensCrafters (Des Moines, IA) in Apr 2011
Interview
I went in and met with both the retail manager and the lab manager separately. It took about 30 minutes each. They were concerned with my sales experience and asked pretty general interview questions. They then took me on a tour of the store and I was able to ask questions about how things worked, what I would be able to learn, and if I could expect sales commission.

Question 1
What was one situation in your life that proved challenging and how did you overcome it? Would you say you succeeded?
The interview was professional, straightforward, and well organized. The optician role was clearly explained, expectations were transparent, and the conversation felt respectful and efficient. Overall good experience and would recommend others for role
Video interview with a woman that did not turn on her camera. The woman was a store manager but this was her first time working in the optical business. She was so green, I should have been interviewing her. They have such high turn over I was really shocked to see that someone with no experience was managing in a location and without any formal training or license
Simple and easy, very straightforward. I did not have to wait long and the person interviewing me was very professional. The store was clean and the other employees were friendly.
