I applied online. I interviewed at Long & Foster (Timonium, MD) in Dec 2022
Interview
Very odd and desperate behavior from the interviewer. Wanted me to sign an agreement before negotiating salary and went so far as to get upset at me for not signing it fast enough, when the document had errors that I wanted to correct before signing. They were not transparent about work schedule and benefits. They would give vague answers like "we can talk about it later" when asking about time off and remote working opportunities. Needless to say, I declined the offer.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Long & Foster (Silver Spring, MD) in Jun 2022
Interview
1. Contacted by recruiter
2. The company said they wanted to interview me
3. I had my interview about a week later
Interview:
The interview was a great interview in my opinion. It lasted about 30 minutes but it was definitely a very engaging conversation on both ends. Nonetheless I felt like it was a great interview. After the interview I was contacted to do a trial project. (Apparently they should have definitely told me about some kind of contract regarding this so that my design would not be used without my permission or compensation yet they did not bring this up). I’m basically a junior designer and I’m trying to get my first corporate job so of course I wasn’t very knowledgeable on this. I also let them know this during my interview. They needed the project turned around in 24hrs which I did do. Mind you I’m unemployed but busy trying to get work and usually use my free time applying for jobs. The next evening I get a rejection email. They did provide feedback but how do I know they won’t use my designs? Also the design test doesn't measure my full capabilities at all.
I had to create one brochure using a template, and a social media post for Instagram.
