During my interview, the interviewer had a hard time keeping to himself his political views and made me feel uncomfortable. He asked me to meet him at a restaurant near his house and I'd gotten there early just in case. He ate his dinner during the interview which I said I didn't mind. But then he went on to talk about his children and political views. I met him at 5 and I didn't get to leave until almost 7 because he was talking incessantly about his life. He seemed manic and a little on-edge but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Before I left that night, I explained to him that I'd be out of town until a specific date for an important appointment. But while I was still out of town, I got text mid-day saying that if I didn't respond to his texts that my position was in jeopardy because they really needed to hire someone and that there were other candidates that wanted my position.
I texted back explaining that I was out of town and that I'd appreciate it if I could get back to him when I was back in Maryland.
This sent me a red flag especially considering I hadn't even started working yet.
