I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MD Financial Management (Ottawa, ON (Canada)) in January 2016.

    Interview

I went through a local recruiter. Once we discussed the opportunity, they then sent my resume to their client (MDF) and an interview was set up. I then met with 2 of their QA team leads to discuss the opportunity and my previous experience. Once satisfied and upon reflection (I guess), they then offered me the (contract) position a week or two later.

    Interview Questions

    • They asked me about my previous work experience. None of it was financial, so they wanted to know why I was interested in the financial industry.   1 Answer

    Interview

You submit resume on-line. In a week or so, if you are selected, you will receive notification from HR about being a prospective candidate and eventually have scheduled time for a phone interview. The telephone interview can last an hour. If you pass the phone interview, the HR rep will forward you a financial planning questions, that need to be answered. It's basically case studies like you would see in a financial planning exam. You will then submit the completed questionnaire back to them. If you pass this test, you will then get to meet with the Vice President of a selected Region/City. Basically a local manager of the region. Once you pass that test, they will require you to go through a criminal record check on-line, etc., and they will check to see if everything pans out. You then receive an offer.

    Interview Questions

    • Several case studies - written/point form case studies - takes usually an hour or two to complete.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

You are presented a formal offer via e-mail. Outlines benefits and income, etc.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5+ months. I interviewed at MD Financial Management (Ottawa, ON (Canada)) in September 2014.

    Interview

Was recommended by internal HR and a personal connection.
Had an HR interview for another role and was then recommended by HR for the above role.
Had an initial discussion with another HR person, then was surprised by a panel in person interview consisting of senior manager and an AVP - they had their with PCs up and madly typed away as I was talking, not much feedback and very bland. Lastly a third one to one interview with a VP. Mostly standard behavioral questions with a review of work history.
