I applied online. I then received a CodeSignal online assessment. It's an industrial coding assessment, where you have to solve problems with OOP concepts for 3 levels. You must pass a level to be able to move to the next. Each level builds on top of the previous level, and reuses all the code you wrote before.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Build a system to write, retrieve, and update records on a key-value pair, group by tag.
I applied online. I interviewed at Magic AI in Feb 2025
Interview
Terrible interview process, and I experienced the same as others have reviewed here - asked to record a video of myself and then watch a video of their product and spot bugs in it. I spent a few hours on this, submitted my response promptly and then never heard anything again from them - incredibly poor treatment of candidates seems to be the norm here.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Watch a workout video and report any bugs you find in it.
Record a video of yourself answering several questions they asked.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Magic AI (London, England) in Jan 2025
Interview
They didnt have time to talk to you - they only sent pre-recorded videos of challenges. Asked for two design challenges, both took a least a day each. Imagine spending two days of free work for someone and they don't even bother with a face to face. Stopped communication when they didn't want to take it further, had to get the recruiter to squeeze an email out of them with some dud feedback. Judging by the other comments here these were massive red flags that I should have clocked - would not be a good place to work with the poor work ethic and attitude from the CEO.
