Starting off, I called to confirm they received my resume. The manager stated she had. We set up an interview a day or two later. Once arriving I had to fill out a paper application which asked me all the questions that I provided on my resume, but I get it so I filled it out no problem. Went through the interview process which went well. Took a total of 2 hours start to finish. She stated I would have to go through a practical to show my skillset. I agreed of course. But unfortunately it was going to be over a week before I could do this. Finally texting her to confirm the practical (the day before) because I had not heard from her she then said she was going to have to push it out another week.
So I accepted again...I arrive finally to the practical and she wasn't even in the office yet. I waited for an hour before I could even begin my practical. Once starting the steamer and magnified light weren't even working. I went through the phases of the facial and at the end she said it was a really great facial and what we will do next is fill out paperwork to agree to do the background check, that it could take weeks to get back. Mind you this is now going on a month all together.
The same day after I left she called me asking if I had another license besides my cosmetology license. I said no that I've never had an issue working in a spa before with a cosmetology license. She stated that their regulation requires a full specialist license or a facial specialist license. (Which I could apply for no problem) but she said she would check with the owner on the regulation. Which I had placed my license number on my resume so if she would have taken the time to look it up this all would have been resolved upon our first interview. She finally called me stating she was unable to hire me because of my license title. When legally I am over qualified with 1200 hrs. VS 500.
Very misleading, discriminating and unprofessional. I hope she enjoyed her free facial.
